Privacy Policy

Hi, I’m Raquel Batman (Raquel Schroeder), an Anchorage-based flight attendant, and raquelbatman.com is my personal site: layover finds, Alaska moments, beauty, and style. This page explains in plain language what information the site collects, why, and what you can do about it. When I say “I” or “me,” that’s me, Raquel. Questions anytime: raquelbatman@icloud.com.

What I collect

Contact form. If you send me a message through the contact form, I receive your name, email address, and whatever you write, so I can reply.
Email list. If you sign up for updates, your email address (and name, if you give it) is stored with Mailchimp, the service I use to send those emails. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
Comments. If you leave a comment, the site stores your name, email, optional website, your comment, your IP address, and your browser info. Comments are checked for spam by Akismet, and a scrambled version of your email (a hash) may be checked against Gravatar to show a profile picture.
Basic visit data. Like most websites, my hosting provider (GoDaddy) keeps standard server logs and basic traffic stats, such as pages viewed, browser type, referring site, and approximate location based on IP address. I use these in summary form to see which posts people read. I don’t currently use Google Analytics or advertising pixels. If that changes, I’ll update this page.

Cookies

Cookies are small files your browser stores. This site uses a few:

Cookies my host and its security and performance services set to keep the site running and block bots.
Optional WordPress comment cookies that remember your name and email for next time (these last up to one year).
Cookies set by retailers or affiliate networks when you click an affiliate link (see below).
Cookies from embedded content, like Instagram (see below).

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Most of the site will still work.

Embedded content and third-party services

Some pages show my Instagram feed or other embedded content. When that content loads, Instagram (Meta) or the other site may receive your IP address and set its own cookies, the same as if you visited that site directly. The site also loads fonts from Google Fonts, which means your browser connects to Google’s servers. Those companies handle your data under their own privacy policies.

Affiliate links

Some posts include affiliate links to retailers such as Target (through the Target Partners program) and Amazon (through the Amazon Associates program). If you click one, the retailer or its affiliate network may use cookies to note that you came from my site, so I can earn a small commission if you buy something. I don’t get your name, payment details, or what else is in your cart, only summary reports. More on my Affiliate Disclosure page.

How I use your information

To reply to your messages.
To send the emails you signed up for.
To moderate comments and keep out spam.
To understand which posts are useful and keep the site secure.

What I don’t do

I don’t sell or rent your personal information. I only share it with the services listed above that help run this site, or if the law requires it.

How long I keep it

Contact messages stay in my email for as long as the conversation is useful. Email list info stays with Mailchimp until you unsubscribe. Comments stay up unless you ask me to remove them. Server logs are kept according to my host’s standard retention.

Your choices

You can ask me for a copy of the personal information I have about you, ask me to correct it, or ask me to delete it. Just email raquelbatman@icloud.com. You can unsubscribe from emails anytime using the link in any email. Depending on where you live (for example, California or the EU), you may have additional privacy rights, and I’ll do my best to honor any request no matter where you are.

Kids

This site isn’t meant for children under 13, and I don’t knowingly collect information from them. If you think a child has sent me information, email me and I’ll delete it.
